Cartea pe care am început-o este Claim Me, de J. Kenner, care este defapt a doua carte din trilogia Stark. Dacă v-a plăcut seria Fifty Shades, atunci trebuie să le citiţi şi pe acestea.

Pentru început aş vrea să spun că nu credeam că a trecut chiar atât de mult timp de când nu am postat ceva. Acum mă uitam peste lista mea de cărţi pe care le-am citit de când am scris aici şi am realizat că am citit peste 50 de cărţi! De ce tocmai acum am decis să scriu? Pentru că aş avea ceva de spus. Ultima carte pe care am citit-o parcă îmi cere s-o recomand şi altora.

Am început să citesc cartea pentru că am tot descoperit-o pe lista de recomandări a mai multor persoane şi, sincer, nu am căutat informaţii despre ea. (De puţine ori încep o carte fără să citesc câte ceva despre ea. Fac asta atunci când vreau ca povestea din acea carte să mă surprindă.) Vreau să zic că anume asta s-a şi întâmplat. Cele mai multe romane contemporane pe care le-am citit urmăreşte viaţa a celor două personaje principale din momentul în care s-au cunoscut şi până la un anumit happy-ending. În Arouse, chiar  din primele pagini facem cunoştinţă cu un cuplu căsătorit, Olivia (sau Liv) şi Dean West, care pare că şi-ar fi găsit secretul unui mariaj fericit. Citind, am avut senzaţia că aici povestea începe de la acel happy-ending, care a fost căsătoria celor doi. Şi mi-am pus întrebarea: ei bine, şi ce vine după? Ce ar putea interveni atunci când cei doi sunt îndrăgostiţi, loiali, încrezuţi unul în celălalt? Răspunsul a venit pe parcurs.

Cartea este aproape toată povestită din POV al Oliviei, însă spre final putem vedea anumite momente şi din viziunea lui Dean. Cred că este perfect pentru acele momente. 
Istoria celor doi începe din prezent, dar este combinată cu nişte amintiri care ne permit să vedem momentele importante din viaţa celor doi ca cuplu: cum s-au cunoscut, primele întâlniri... 
Liv era o studentă, Dean un profesor. Recunoaşteţi motivul? Ei bine, nu e chiar aşa, Liv nu a fost niciodată studenta lui Dean. S-au cunoscut, s-au plăcut, s-au căsătorit. Ar părea simplu, dar Dean a lucrat mult până a reuşit să spargă peretele imaginar pe care şi l-a creat Liv în jurul inimii sale. (Chiar ea face de multe ori asemănarea lui Dean cu cea a unui prinţ pe cal alb care o salvează. Ea îi oferă tot ce este ea. El îi devine cel mai bun prieten.)

Dean o vede pe soţia lui foarte vulnerabilă. Din frica de a o răni, el are secrete, secrete ce duc la un impas în căsnicia lor...
Amândoi au trecut prin mai multe momente dificile în viaţa lor ceea ce i-au marcat şi au stârnit nesiguranţa ca părinte pentru amândoi. Înainte de a se căsători, Liv a luat decizia că ea nu ar putea fi niciodată mamă şi Dean a fost de acord să nu aibă copii. După trei ani de căsătorie, Liv realizează că doreşte un copil cu el, nu primeşte reacţia aşteptată din partea lui şi de aici începe totul. Ceea ce nu poate înţelege Liv este de ce ar ezita Dean? Nu are încredere în ei ca cuplu că ar fi rezistat în timp? Nu are încredere în ea ca viitoare mamă? Nu vrea să aibă un copil cu ea? Ceea ce o răneşte cel mai mult este că nu îl poate întreba direct. Realizează că el se îndepărtează tot mai mult şi mai mult, până ajunge la un moment în care este dezamăgită în el pentru prima dată.

Liv înţelege puţin situaţia în care se află atunci când Dean decide să vorbească. El îi povesteşte despre un mariaj anterior, despre cum prima soţie a pierdut trei sarcini. Aceasta a rănit-o şi mai mult pe Olivia. Nu atât de mult situaţia cu sarcina ci faptul că el a mai avut o soţie despre care nu i-a povestit. El a fost primul ei în toate, pentru ea era de ajuns că îi este prima lui soţie. Această revelaţie i-a spulberat această credinţă. Ce nu i-a mai povestit? Ce ar mai putea ascunde? Toate aceste probleme o împinge pe Liv în direcţia altui bărbat. Deşi nu se întâmplă nimic cu el, decât un sărut, aceasta creează şi mai mari rupturi în relaţia celor doi. 
Spre final, Liv şi Dean împreună, din dorinţă şi din dragoste, ei reuşesc să treacă peste aceste probleme, reuşesc să regăsească încrederea unul în celălalt, reuşesc să se întâlnească la mijloc şi să devină mai puternici ca cuplu.

"Maybe this was meant to happen, this discovery of cracks where now a different light can shine through."

Acesta nu este finalul poveştii celor doi, urmează cartea a doua care apare în această lună, mai, care îi va urmări din momentul în care ei află că aşteaptă un copil împreună!

Toate dialogurile, toate scenele par atât de reale, ceea ce defapt m-a atras cel mai mult. Însăşi povestea este una emoţionantă, cu momente în care râzi, plângi, eşti iritată, eşti acolo cu ei.  

Karina Halle - Experiment In Terror Series

La moment, una dintre lecturile mele preferate sunt cărțile din seria Experiment in Terror de Karina Halle. De la început, nu eram sigură dacă aș fi dorit să le citesc deoarece denumirea nu-mi inspira încrederea că ar putea fi ceva interesant, și mai important, speram să nu fie horror. 
Și nu e!! 
Experiment in Terror este de fapt denumirea unei emisiuni online care ia viață chiar din prima carte și echipa de lucru este formată din cele două personaje principale: Perry Palomino & Dex Foray. Este o poveste captivantă ce ne introduce într-o lume în care există fantome, spirite rele, vrajitorii, etc. 

A (very) mature young adult novel that is scary, sexy and relat­able, filled with the super­nat­ural and things that go bump in the night. A para­nor­mal, super­nat­ural jour­ney with two unlikely ghost-hunters who must bat­tle not only spir­its but their attrac­tion to each other. Scooby Doo, this ain’t.
In a large, flaky nut­shell, the Exper­i­ment in Ter­ror Series is an eight-part sci-fi/fantasy/horror series that revolves around a pair of ghost hunters. Well, aspir­ing ghost hunters, any­way. After film­ing a creepy expe­ri­ence in her uncle’s dilap­i­dated light­house, 22-year old Perry Palomino becomes a YouTube and inter­net star overnight. She attracts the atten­tion of Dex Foray, a pro­ducer and cam­era­man for a site that spe­cial­izes in var­i­ous webisodes, who con­vinces her to be a host for a low-budget ghost hunt­ing series. The only prob­lem is, nei­ther Perry or Dex are entirely “with it” — I mean, they see ghosts, after all. And when the duo isn’t wrestling with their very notion of real­ity, they’re grap­pling with a work­ing rela­tion­ship that’s deep-cut with sex­ual ten­sion.
